Dammmnnnnn GINA.
Check out the girth on THIS burger!
Seriously though, you haven’t LIVED until you’ve taken a bite out of this beast:
Let me tell you about it.
It’s THE famous Americana Burger from Causwells.
It’s actually famous because they were recently voted best burger in the West Coast by Thrillist, and is consistently on everyone’s list of “BEST BURGERS in SF.”
They use 5-Dot Ranch Beef and they grind it every.single.day to ensure freshness (← not very many places do that, hence why this burger is one of the best in the city).
Side note: When I asked the chef (Adam Rosenblum- former Flour + Water sous chef) about them buns, he said they searched for the perfect ones for a VERY VERY long time.
I literally giggled when I found this one and shouted ‘THIS IS IT!!!’ – Adam
It’s cooked to a perfect medium, seasoned with a secret Causwells sauce, topped with Kraft American cheese, shredded lettuce, pickles, sliced onion and a sesame seed bun from Petite Pains. ($15.75/ +1.50 avo/bacon)
Ugh, I know. I’m still OMGing since my first bite.
Not only do they do the burger well, they also kill it when it comes to everything else. Causwells is a European influenced American bistro serving up some of the best lunch and dinner items at very affordable prices.
Basically, it’s the PERFECT spot for brunch with your girls or for date night before catching a movie down the street. Here are some of my menu favorites:
House made ricotta ($10.75). OMG- that cheese tho!
If you come here for brunch with a group of friends, this makes for a great starter plate. And if you loooooove cheese like I do (borderline obsessed), then this is a MUST. Served with rosemary honey, lavosh and arugula.
These deviled eggs ($6.25) are also unlike anything I’ve ever had. While the toppings to these deviled eggs changes all the time, I especially loved how they added smoked trout, mustard and paprika to these ones- awesome job Causwells!
Their summer salads are a real winner and super fresh, BUT they’re also seasonal … meaning get it while it’s still on the menu!
Summer Salad (12.25) with peaches, red onion, pistachio, and house made buttermilk dressing.
Ps: I’m sure whatever they come up with next season will be just as good.
This heirloom tomato salad is also seasonal (Sorry guys. Go get it white it’s hot!). Comes with Jimmy Nardello peppers, arugula, mint, basil and a melon vinaigrette, finished with fried okra.
This Jerk Spiced Chicken ($13) over creamed corn with quinoa is freaking phenomenal. The meat was soft, and the seasoning had just the right amount of flavor. Overall, it’s a great and healthy entree that you can’t go wrong with.
So besides the burger and affordable dishes, what makes this place even better is their selection of drinks. They have about 20 wines available by the glass, wines by the bottle, 4 rotating drafts and about 20 beers in the bottle.
To sum it all up:
Next time you’re craving a #BOMBASS burger:
- Come to Causwells
- Get the Americana Burger
- Thank me later.
