New Orleans has one of the most vibrant cultures I’ve ever experienced. The buildings are historic, the people are friendly, and the coffee is BOMB. It sounds weird and cheesy to say, but New Orleans has a soul. REAL soul.
When I told people I was going, they would ask me if I was going to party it up on Bourbon St. When I came back with, “I’m going for the gumbo”... they proceeded to give me a very confused look. Regardless, I had an excellent time. The non-party way.
There’s a lot more to New Orleans outside of the party life! This guide is Nawlin’s… off Bourbon.
New Orleans has some AMAZING coffee. I mean, I know New Orleans iced coffee is a thing, but I was still? surprised by how awesome the coffee culture in the city was.
Get brunch! This is the brunch at Commander’s Palace. The service is great, but watch out – the food is HEAVY. Make sure you get a classic NOLA cocktail. This one’s the Sazerac.
Some of the BEST food you’ll ever taste is on little stands on the street. This beautiful salad is from The Lost Line.
Walking around the city is super fun. Take a stroll down St. Charles or Magazine Street. Wander around the boutiques and buy something you don’t need.
Grab a glass of wine in the courtyard of Bachanal Wines.
Take a stroll down St. Charles to look at all the historic houses. (This is the American Horror Story house!) Also, houses like these make me want to dance like Serena Williams in Beyonc’s Formation video. Unfortunately, I cannot dance.
This photo is from Bourbon street, but it is definitely worth it to see the architecture during the day. (And maybe get a drink too… why not?) There’s a great place off Bourbon called French 75… get the French 75. š
Get away from the city- go on a swamp tour! This fella LOVES marshmallows.
Audbon park has gorgeous trees characteristic of the South by the way. Also a beautiful place to go and spend some time… maybe even have a picnic.
Walk around the eerie above-ground cemeteries….. Spooky!
NEW ORLEANS IS AWESOME! And?there IS plenty to do there that doesn’t involve partying! What spots / themes did I miss? Do tell for the next trip!
