I am crazy excited to talk about this one.

A tip I picked up from the Wellness Ancient Retreat I went to in Florida the other week. IT’S A GOOD ONE. Like the first tip I *HAD* tell the Violets about.

As you may know, I jumped on the essential oil bandwagon this year. I’m hooked. I’m a believer. I love the science. The history of it. I love my own experience with them.

So mostly I’ve been diffusing, but I recently got into what I can do topically. You know… take it up a level. I am so thankful that Dr.Axe, his wife Chelsea, and the Ancient Nutrition team spent a LOT of time talking about eastern medicine and essential oils in Florida. I learned so much. (And I thank the Dr.Axe brand for sponsoring content every month. I have never loved a brand more, I kid you not!)

Alright– let’s zero in on ONE though. FRANKINCENSE. This is the QUEEN of essential oils. Even back in biblical days this oil was mentioned in the routines of kings and queens. The benefits of Frankincense oil are so powerful.

So Frankincense oil is from the genus Boswellia. To quote this fantastic article from Dr. Axe, Boswellia serrata is a tree native to India that produces special compounds that have been found to have strong anti-inflammatory, and potentially anti-cancer, effects.” Anti-inflammatory = anti-aging, PS. Just a little tip. 😉

Dr. Axe mentioned again and again (and his wife, Chelsea- who OMG has the most glowing skin) that Frankincense is HIGHLY ANTI-AGING. As in- put a drop in your skincare regimen NOW. Daily. Reap the benefits. It works at a cellular level.
Think about it Violets, this is just another INSANE active ingredient that you can EASILY add to your routine.

I love this research: “According to a review published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine, frankincense oil reduces redness and skin irritation, while also producing a more even skin tone. Studies suggest that it’s the pentacyclic triterpene (steroid-like) structure of frankincense oil that contributes to its soothing effect on irritated skin.” <— also pulled from Dr.Axe site.

Keep in mind- irritated skin means aging skin. My skin gal Alyson always reminds me of this. We should ALWAYS be doing something to keep irritations at bay. Frankincense helps tremendously with this.

I’m actually semi upset I’m just now learning how about powerful Frankincense is. lol.  And I feel like it’s such a secret tip as not many skincare companies are utilizing this powerful oil yet. (Let us hope that when they do it’ll be super high quality and not watered down! You know how companies boast about using rosehip seed oil but they use the LEAST quality kind… just so they can market it. *Sigh*… I don’t trust anyone!)

This past week I’ve been putting Frankincense in my moisturizer or with my apricot oil and it doesn’t change the consistency at all and I am of the belief that the Frankincense is doing some wonderful anti-aging magic for me. It is certainly calming and “rich” smelling. Which I love.

Another great thing is this oil can be worn during the day too. (Some essential oils you can only wear topically at night.) Due to my own routine though, it’s at night that I’ve been using it. But I like that I have the option.

I wish you guys could hear the conviction in Dr. Axe when he spoke about Frankincense. It came from an intelligent and passionate place and from all the research I have done since, I can tell you that Frankincense will stay in rotation for me for the rest of my life. YES I’m that serious about it. Like ordering it as Christmas gift for everyone this year. There’s a reason it’s one of the more expensive oils. It’s pure goodness. (FYI it’s not so so expensive that it isn’t doable, you know?)

Do we like these educational pieces on Essential Oils, Violets? You know I like to break things down for you (and me) and figure out what the power-houses are. I LOVE A POWERHOUSE.

If you are interested in trying the Dr.Axe brand Frankincense, you can purchase it here! It smells divine, and lasts for a long time too! It also has 333 reviews and 298 of them are 5 stars. Just saying. 🙂

Tell me your thoughts!!
