What happens when you mix a little bit of AZN and Mexican together?
You get a Spicy Pork kimchee burrito-!! Freakin’ genius!
But. That’s not all.
There’s also Mongolian beef cheesesteaks and bulgogi beef tacos.
And because I was so obsessed with this place the first time around, I came back immediately the next day. (shocker!)
HRD Coffee Shop in SOMA is known for their huge portions of Asian-Mexican fusion food. But do not be confused with the name- because it’s not exactly a coffee shop (in fact, I don’t even think they sell coffee?)
The outside looks like a hole in the wall, but once you step inside, the place is chic, clean and minimalistic with small touches from the previous owner’s shop.
The menu is plastered on the wall and you wait in line until it’s your turn to order (think: chipotle).
Once you place your order, a number is handed to you and your food delivered to your table. (btw- service is great here!)

While everything is great… I still feel like I need to include a little disclaimer:
For someone who doesn’t eat Korean/Chinese food on a daily basis, this will probably be the best thing that’s ever happened to you.
But for those of you who have it all the time, you’ll probably find that the flavors are somewhat… lacking.
Nevertheless, this is still a great (and cheap) spot for some bomb fusion food that hits the spot.
Menu Favs: Get the pork kimchee burrito and Mongolian beef cheesesteak!
This pork kimchee burrito ($9.25) was sweet, tangy, crunchy, creamy, and rich in one bite.
Mongolian beef cheesesteak ($10.95) – was one of my favorite things here. You get thinly sliced beef slathered in a hoisin sauce, topped with sautéed onions, bell-peppers, aioli & mozzarella cheese on a fresh crispy roll!
These Bulgogi Beef tacos ($9.25) were just alright. You get wasabi apple coleslaw, daikon, pineapple salsa & kimchee aioli.
PS: This place is perfect for anyone who’s headed to a Giants Game (3 blocks away, plus it’s like super cheap compared to the $20 hot dogs inside).
