It is vital to think about liver health. It’s by and large one of the most important organs in our bodies.

It detoxifies our blood, aids in enzyme activation, works with our adrenal glands, stores vitamins and minerals, and metabolizes fats, proteins and carbohydrates. JUST TO NAME A FEW. It has many functions and works to protect us day in and day out.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- we age when our LIVER starts to age.

So let’s start taking better care of our livers, yo!!! We got this!

How To Take Care Of Your Liver

We talk about a clean diet but let’s also talk about EXTERNAL factors. What can we do for our livers that has nothing to do with diet? This article is important, and it’s sponsored by one of my favorite brands, Branch Basics. Please understand that that doesn’t make the information here less valuable- it’s useful knowledge whether you end up using Branch Basics or not. <3

So our liver… it’s always dealing with a toxic load. Our world is filled with chemicals that put constant stress on it. A real burden on it, you know? Keeps it from functioning at tip-top shape.

What stinks is that most companies that create a consumer product do not have our health at the center of their attention. They have DOLLAR SIGNS at the center of their attention. They don’t care about what seeps into our bodies so long as money is seeping into their pockets. Ya feel me? We must be aware of this because they benefit from us being aloof or never questioning what is really in these products.

Well I’m here to pull back some curtains! I want you to feel your healthiest and beat the odds down the line when it comes to cancers and disease. Having a strong liver will help with this!

Here are three things you can do right now to help lessen the toxicity burden on your liver.

1. Get rid of your car air freshener and plugins in your home

Ugh, these are just horrible! I understand wanting things to smell good but dizamn– at what cost? 99% of the time these products contain phthalates (YUCK- hormone disruptors!)  and many other chemicals like benzenes, solvents, propellants, formaldehyde,  and synthetic musks, among others. A synthetic fragrance is one of the worst. The many chemicals that make up a synthetic fragrance make me want to throw up. Really though- whenever I get into a car with an air freshener I get an immediate headache. These are easily inhaled and shoot straight into our lungs. They have particles that can land onto your skin and absorb into your bloodstream. DAS NOT GOOD. This stresses your liver!

A better option? Infused essential oils. Non-toxic candles. Windows open. Keeping a clean environment. Just PLEASE not the air fresheners or plugins.

2. Switch out your chemical fertilizers

Ahhhh chemical fertilizers. So common to use on our gardens and lawns and yet- so toxic to our livers. The toxins can be in our soil or even in the air we breathe. Manufactured fertilizers contain often contain nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (N-P-K fertilizers). There are studies out there showing that many manufactured fertilizers contain high levels of hazardous waste- this stems from their production. This toxic waste often has traceable levels of heavy metals like cadmium, zinc, and even arsenic. HECK NO!! You better believe that this puts a toxic load on your liver if you subjected to it on a consistent basis.

Solution: Opt for ORGANIC fertilizer. Or fertilizers with VERY little ingredients. Always be on the lookout for “natural, non-toxic”… that is your BEST bet! And guess what? They still perform great!

3. Get Rid Of Toxic Cleaning Products

Oh my lanta, ohhhhh my lanta. Our home cleaning products!! *GASP* What is inside most of our cleaning products is upsetting. These are the companies I’m talking about who don’t consider their customer’s HEALTH. To quote a senior scientist at EWG (Environmental Working Group), Rebecca Sutton tells us, “In terms of household cleaners, neither ingredients nor products must meet any sort of safety standard, nor is any testing data or notification required before bringing a product to market.”Quote found here

The average household contains 62 toxic chemicals. SIXTY-TWO. What in the actual heck!

Is that necessary? The answer is NO BECKY. NO! And I have a solution for you:

Companies like BRANCH BASICS. They’re out there! Branch Basics is doing their part by seeing a need (cleaning products- which we ALL use) and making it SAFE. They genuinely care about our well-being and have made it their mission to create products that work (and believe me, they WORK) that also put our health as their number one priority.

Toilets, counters, fridges, corners, stains, messes, floors, wood, metals, fabric, clothes, you name it! Branch Basics can clean it.

They can clean it… without all the nasty chemicals. Fragrance-free too.

I just adore their brand. They are always putting out useful information when it comes to cleaning (their Instagram is amazing) and they’ve created a system for ordering that is sustainable too. And the cost breakdown is actually quite affordable.
