Let’s talk about sandwiches for a minute because SF has some pretty BADASS sandwiches.

To be completely honest, I used to be a basic B when it came to ordering sandwiches. You know, the norm: wheat toast, turkey, lettuce, mayo (gross), tomatoes and onions.

I mean… there’s nothing wrong with that. And it’s good. But why eat that when you can get THIS:

Roli Roti

I meaaannnnnn? Right??? It’s like a total party-in-your-mouth.

SOO. Presenting my FAV sandwich spots in SF:

Roli Roti

Why: Their porchetta sandwich (pic above) is F’ing amazing. The meat is really well seasoned and super flavorful. Sure, the lines for this place are a total B! But hey, the way that pork just melts in your mouth… it’s worth it!

PS: Check out their food truck schedule HERE. If you’re lucky, they’ll have a location near you.

The American Grilled Cheese- best grilled cheese in SF

American Grilled Cheese Kitchen

Why: OMFG. Do you see what I see? It’s a Adam’s Reuban made with New York pastrami, stout mustard, brussels “kraut”, bread n butter pickles, garlic butter, on a local rye bread, served with house made Russian dressing

*Drops mic*

Ikes Place

Why: If you haven’t had a sandwich from Ike’s Place, you haven’t LIVED! What makes his sandwiches extraordinary is the “dirty sauce” that’s baked right into the bread. Plus… they don’t skimp on the meat or veggies or avo. ($9-$14)

Not to mention, Ike’s Place has been featured on Man v. Food, New York Times (8 times), 7X7 Magazine’s 100 Things to Eat Before You Die, SF Chronicle… and they’ve got over 6,500 reviews on Yelp.

PS: They’re expanding all over! 17 new locations this year (2015), so if you’re lucky… they’ll open one up near you. Fingers crossed.

Saigon Sandwich

Saigon Sandwiches

Why: For only $4 bucks, everything here is a winner! Plus, they don’t skimp on the meat or the veggies either. Everything comes stuffed in a French baguette with the usual accoutrements of pickled carrots, jalapeños, and cilantro.

Tip: I usually buy 2 or 3 or 4 and save it for lunch the next day (it’s just as good when you put it back in the toaster/oven)

PS: They are located in the Tenderloin. Kinda ghetto but not tooooo far from Union Square either. Just avoid making eye contact with the crazys.

Merigans sub shop

Merigans Sub Shop

Why: Everything here is BOMB and the bread is always perfectly toasted. Sure, it might be on the pricier side, but one bite out of the Arista or the Porchetta sandwich, and you’ll thank me later.

PS: Trust me, you’re gunna want to forget about the food pics here and eat it when it’s HOT!

So do you guys have any favorites in SF that I missed?

Do tell below! I’d love to check it out!
